Nene Valley were formed on the 1st April 1977 following a breakaway from Peterborough. After 42 years apart Peterborough and Nene Valley merged in 2019.

Nene Valley joined the BAL in 2011 and the UKWAL in 2018. Peterborough joined the BAL in 1994 and left in 2002.
