49 athletes, including five guest competitors have been selected to represent the Fastrax National Athletics League team at the Loughborough International Athletics meeting (LIA) this Sunday 19th May.
As ever, the format of the match will see Loughborough University athletes compete against teams representing England, Wales, Scotland, and Great Britain and Northern Ireland Under-20s.
Last year, athletes wearing the NAL vest sealed six victories, including through 400m hurdler Hayley McLean, pole vaulter Ruben Miranda and 800m runner Khai Mhlanga.
Great Britain internationals Jess Mayho (hammer) and Sam Reardon (400m) are among those included in the squad for 2024.
Mayho, a 69-metre thrower at best, was part of the British team for the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munich.
Reardon finished fifth in the 800m in that year’s World Athletics U20 Championships in Colombia, having been a 4x400m finalist at the World Indoor Championships earlier in the year.
David Chapman is involved in the 200m, having improved his personal best from 21.09 to 20.92 seconds on his way to a silver medal at the British Universities (BUCS) Outdoor Athletics Championships this month.
On the women’s side, last year’s BUCS 100m champion returns to Loughborough for the shorter sprint distance, in which she finished sixth a year ago inside the Paula Radcliffe Stadium.
Marli Jessop will compete in the 100m hurdles, having recently won her sixth BUCS medal in three years.
Jude Bright-Davies is looking for a third consecutive triple jump victory at the LIA, having taken maximum points for the NAL with a 47-centimetre personal best of 16.18m in 2022.
Bright-Davies won the UK indoor triple jump title last year, on the same weekend where Mary Elcock took gold in the women’s competition, and she will also feature in NAL colours in Loughborough.
Among the guest competitors is Joe Ferguson, who competed for Great Britain at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene.
The NAL would like to thank kit supplier Fastrax for their support with this event.
