Southampton athlete Kirstie Booth set a world masters best in the 2000m steeplechase at the NAL Championship Round 2 fixture in Yeovil on Saturday.
Booth, who is a V45 athlete, ran a time of 6:50.81 to better the 6:51.51 clocking of Japan’s Minori Hayakari, set when winning the 2018 World Masters Championships.
The reigning world V40 silver medallist also bettered her own fastest time of 6:55.63, which was achieved in the first NAL match of the season in Basingstoke.
That time had already been down as a European record.
Lizzy Ingram of Yeovil Olympiads finished second in 7:06.44, with Belgrave’s Bethan Goddard taking third further back in 8:24.87.
