On the 7th October 1887, a group of friends gathered at Kings Arms Pimilco to form a new harriers club. Two names were considered; Pimilco and Belgrave. With Belgrave being the larger of the two areas and also having a palace, Belgrave Harriers were born. Belgrave merged with Surrey AC in 1982.

The club joined the BAL in 1969 and was relegated after one season. They re-joined in 1983 and resigned from the League in 2013.

Belgrave not only promoted running events but also Open Boxing Tournaments. The club were noted for their boxing, rather than running around 1900, with three delegates on the Amateur Boxing Association and an ABA Featherweight Champion.
