Formed through the merger of Hertford & Ware AC (formed 1972) and Verlea AC (formed 1967).

Verlea AC was established by the merger of St Albans City AC (formed 1930) and Welwyn AC (formed 1953). The club joined the UKWAL in 2005 and the BAL in 2018.

Their Olympian sprinter Jodie Williams was unbeaten for five years, prior to winning a silver medal at the World Junior Championships in July 2010.
