Formed at the People’s Palace, Mile End Road on 16th November 1887, the club became Beaumont Harriers, followed by Essex Beagles in July 1891. A ladies section was formed in 1967.

Beagles merged with Newham AC in 1985.

The club joined the BAL in 1975.

Four-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Mo Farah is a club member.

Honours: BAL champions from 2008 to 2010
