Originally named the Reading Abbey Athletic Club, the current name was adopted in 1885. Reading Ladies AC was founded in 1922 and was merged with the men’s club in 1948.

Reading was a BAL member from 1971 to 1975 and from 2011 onwards. Records show that they were one of the inaugural clubs that formed the governing body of athletics at that time, the Amateur Athletic Association (AAA) in 1880.

Colours: Red, white and royal blue
