Founded in 1947 by two police officers, Tom Jones and Norman Fowler, the club formed a partnership with Tonbridge School who have provided its facilities since that year.

Records show that Britain’s most successful winter Olympian Lizzy Yarnold, who was Skeleton gold medallist at the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics, competed for the club as a junior. Tonbridge joined the BAL in 2018.
