End-of-year awards made at AGM

Premiership winners Thames Valley Harriers and shot-putter Youcef Zatat were among those honoured with awards during the National Athletics League’s AGM in Coventry earlier this month.

Business was adjourned midway through the meeting for a series of presentations made by NAL chairman Len Steers.

Representatives from Thames Valley Harriers, Crawley AC and Yeovil Olympiads were present to receive the trophies for winning the Premiership, Championship and National 1 divisions respectively.

Meanwhile, UK shot put No.2 Youcef Zatat (Woodford Green with Essex Ladies) attended to receive the award for Premiership athlete of the season and the inaugural David Jeacock bursary of £500. Hammer thrower Charlotte Payne (Reading), who could not attend, was awarded the other bursary and was named Championship athlete of the season. Shot-putter Serena Vincent (City of Portsmouth) was named National 1 athlete of the season. The bursary was created in memory of David Jeacock, a longstanding secretary of the British Athletics League, who died in 2019.

NAL operations officer Alan Johnson was awarded the chair’s trophy and officials co-ordinator Sandra White was named recipient of the officials’ trophy.
