The fastest ever 3000m time in NAL history was set at the Championship East match in Bromley.
Jack Kavanagh of Blackheath and Bromley became the first man to run sub-8:00 with a clocking of 7:58.23.
He won by over 47 seconds to break the league record which had stood to Olympic marathon runner Phil Sesemann of the same club as 8:04.25 since 2017.
Kavanagh has set personal bests over 800, 1500, 3000, 5000, 5K and 10 miles this year. That includes 7:57.71 for 3000m in June, an improvement of more than eight seconds over the distance this season.
The league records include names such as Sebastian Coe, Molly Caudery and Rabah Yousif across all results – including under the BAL – going back to 1969.
It is the second record to be broken this month after Tyri Donovan ran 48.46 for 400m hurdles at the Premiership match in Derby.
The 3000m also remains the only record in the hands of Blackheath and Bromley under its current guise, though the women’s high jump record of 1.91 has stood to Debbie Marti of Bromley Ladies since 1991.
Blackheath won their home match at Norman Park, but it was not enough to progress as one of eight teams through to next month’s Promotion Match.
